so here’s a couple of tracks i’ve been working on. i’m trying to solidify a mood a groove and a hook in no more than 90 seconds. i’m gonna be doing a ton of these over the next couple of month:
ROBOT PARADE
WALKING THE 8-BIT DOG

i’m done tooling with this. it’s already taken up way too much of my time. the vox might be a little late here and there in the verses but that’s because the ambient guitar chord is making it sound wobbly. i think it adds to the druggy charm of the remix, though.

here is the second incarnation of my ULYSSES remix. it’s almost finished. there are vocals now and a cool angelic vocoder thing going on in the choruses. it still needs a little polish in the drums and some seam fillers but it’s almost there. the best part of doing this was the experimentation. no expectations and no boundaries.
i hope people listen to it.

beatport is having a contest to remix the new franz ferdinand single, ULYSSES. so i’m taking a crack at it. the tempo shifts all over the place as they clearly recorded it live as a full band. plus i didn’t feel like time stretching anything so i decided to work with what i had and destroy the fuck out of it. the track is a catchy little guitar diddy in its original state. in this first incarnation–i haven’t put any vocals on it yet–i’m going for this “kevin shields-lost-in-translation-thing with the verses. choruses still need a ton of work but it’s sounding pretty cool.

model 002 from LAST YEAR’S MODEL came up with this idea. i threw a track together and model 001 laid down the vox and VOILA!!!!!

i want to create audio for moving pictures. whether commercials, video games, art installations or film is unimportant to me. telling a story through sound is the ultimate goal.
so i thought i’d try and fit a square peg into a round hole. i found a commercial online for nike+ which is a product that syncs your ipod nano to a cyborg arm band of some kind (if i was a runner i might care). it measures your heart rate, keeps track of how long you have been running etc–all the cool stuff that apple’s lifestyle products do–and i stripped the audio and replaced it with COMPUTER SAYS NO EPISODE V by LAST YEAR’S MODEL.
i also found an Australian Extra commercial (why are downloadable ads so difficult to find online????????) and reworked it to a YOUNG UNKNOWNS tracks called “James Dean”. it’s cute and short.
